To the Nurses of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at St. Boniface

November 9, 2018

To the Nurses of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at St. Boniface,

Thank you again for standing up for yourselves and making your voices heard.

The Government of Manitoba and WRHA's recent announcement that they will provide increased funding and new positions at St. Boniface is an admission that they were wrong and you were right. This is vindication and shows that what you are saying was true all along.

You have shown how important it is to stand up and bring attention to these issues.

Thank you again for your courage and for your dedication to your patients.

By standing up for yourselves and making your voices heard, you have forced this government, for once, to do the right thing.

I continue to share your concerns that this funding may not be adequate to address the very serious needs of the NICU, as well as the fact that, in my opinion, the government and the Health Minister continue to shirk their responsibility for creating, and ignoring the problems at St. Boniface Hospital.

The Manitoba Liberal Caucus is committed to hearing your concerns and amplifying your voices. We are further committed to ensuring that nurses and the health care system have adequate funding and sensible management, so you can provide the best care for your patients.

Yours,

Dougald Lamont

Député de Saint-Boniface / MLA St. Boniface

Chef de la deuxieme opposition / Leader of the second opposition
